2. Retaking the Present

DMs are active today, spreading the power of Xtreme Dungeon Mastery to role-playing games around the globe. Each XDM proudly upholds our traditions every day by remembering who we are and what we fight!
An XDM always…
- Makes an effort to make the game fun and exciting for everyone.
- Toss out the rules when they are in the way of a good time.
- Toss out dice when they are in the way of a good time.
- Toss out players when they are in the way of a good time.
- Paint the picture with style! (Show don’t tell.)
- Never cheats the players!
- Makes up rules when necessary.
- Listens to his audience!
- Knows that the better the prep the better the game.
- Always knows where the exit is and keeps it handy.
- Uses stagecraft, pyrotechnics, sleight of hand AND lasers!
- Plays out ALL the consequences.
- Plays out ethics until his player’s squeal!
- Knows the difference between good story and a bad joke.
And … uses ONLY officially sanctioned XDM™ black t-shirts, jeans, dice, and protective gear.
An XDM Never…
- Caves in to ANY Rules-lawyering.
- Backs down from a call: the ‘No, Pigs actually fly here’ Rule.
- Read aloud from the adventure description text.
- Refer to the rules book … EVER!
- Makes up the adventure as it goes.
- Start a fire they cannot put out.
- Saw anyone in half they cannot put back together.
- Allow players to make simulated damage real.
- Listen to the voices … those terrible voices in your head.
And … use ANYTHING but officially sanctioned XDM™ black t-shirts, jeans, dice, and protective gear.

I’m intimidated to post, woe that it might not be witty enough to stand on this page!
