2. Retaking the Present

DMs are active today, spreading the power of Xtreme Dungeon Mastery to role-playing games around the globe. Each XDM proudly upholds our traditions every day by remembering who we are and what we fight!

An XDM always…

  • Makes an effort to make the game fun and exciting for everyone.
  • Toss out the rules when they are in the way of a good time.
  • Toss out dice when they are in the way of a good time.
  • Toss out players when they are in the way of a good time.
  • Paint the picture with style! (Show don’t tell.)
  • Never cheats the players!
  • Makes up rules when necessary.
  • Listens to his audience!
  • Knows that the better the prep the better the game.
  • Always knows where the exit is and keeps it handy.
  • Uses stagecraft, pyrotechnics, sleight of hand AND lasers!
  • Plays out ALL the consequences.
  • Plays out ethics until his player’s squeal!
  • Knows the difference between good story and a bad joke.

And … uses ONLY officially sanctioned XDM™ black t-shirts, jeans, dice, and protective gear.

An XDM Never…

  • Caves in to ANY Rules-lawyering.
  • Backs down from a call: the ‘No, Pigs actually fly here’ Rule.
  • Read aloud from the adventure description text.
  • Refer to the rules book … EVER!
  • Makes up the adventure as it goes.
  • Start a fire they cannot put out.
  • Saw anyone in half they cannot put back together.
  • Allow players to make simulated damage real.
  • Listen to the voices … those terrible voices in your head.

And … use ANYTHING but officially sanctioned XDM™ black t-shirts, jeans, dice, and protective gear.

I’m intimidated to post, woe that it might not be witty enough to stand on this page!
